Naoki Shinohara received the B.E. degree in electronic engineering, the M.E. and Ph.D (Eng.) degrees in electrical engineering from Kyoto University, Japan, in 1991, 1993 and 1996, respectively. He was a research associate in the Radio Atmospheric Science Center, Kyoto University from 1996. He was a research associate of the Radio Science Center for Space and Atmosphere, Kyoto University by recognizing the Radio Atmospheric Science Center from 2000, and there he was an associate professor since 2001. he was an associate professor in Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere, Kyoto University by recognizing the Radio Science Center for Space and Atmosphere since 2004. From 2010, he has been a professor in Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere, Kyoto University. He has been engaged in research on Solar Power Station/Satellite and Microwave Power Transmission system. He is IEEE MTT-S Technical Committee 26 (Wireless Power Transfer and Conversion) chair, IEEE MTT-S Kansai Chapter TPC member, IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference advisory committee member, URSI Commission D vice chair, international journal of Wireless Power Transfer (Cambridge Press) executive editor, technical committee member and 1st chair of IEICE Wireless Power Transfer, Japan Society of Electromagnetic Wave Energy Applications president, Space Solar Power Systems Society board member, Wireless Power Transfer Consortium for Practical Applications (WiPoT) chair, and Wireless Power Management Consortium (WPMc) chair.

Baruch Levush received his Ph.D. (Plasma Physics) from Tel-Aviv University, Israel, 1981. In 1985 Dr. Levush joined the Institute for Plasma Research at the University of Maryland, where his research focused on the physics of coherent radiation sources and the design of high-power microwave and millimeter wave sources, such as gyrotrons, relativistic backward wave oscillators and free electron lasers. In 1995 Dr. Levush joined the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) as the Head of the Theory and Design Section of the Vacuum Electronics Branch, Electronics Science and Technology Division (ESTD). In 2003 he became a Head of the Vacuum Electronics Branch. Dr. Levush entered the Senior Executive Service (SES) as the Superintendent of the ESTD in 2012. Dr. Levush is a Fellow of IEEE since 2001 and Life Fellow since 2019. He holds numerous awards, including the Robert L. Woods Award of the U.S. Department of Defense (1999), the R&D100 Award (2006), the IVEC Award (2007), the NRL's E.O. Hulburt (2007), the Secretary of the Navy Captain Robert Dexter Conrad Award (2009), IEEE Electron Device Society’s the J.J. Ebers Award (2009) and the IEEE-USA Harry Diamond Memorial Award (2011). He is the co-author of more than 200 publications and of numerous talks and presentations at the international conferences and meetings.

In Soo Ko finished his Ph.D. degree at UCLA in 1987, and joined Department of Physics, POSTECH in 1988 while working at Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL) to build Pohang Light Source which was completed in 1994. He served as Deputy Director (2003~2004) and Director (2004~2007) of PAL. Later he completed the PAL-XFEL project successfully as a Project Director (2011~2016). He became Director again from January 2018 to lead the half-nationalized PAL.

Mikhail Yu. Glyavin was born in Nizhny Novgorod (former Gorky), Russia, on February 14, 1965. After graduation of the Politechnical Institute, Gorky, USSR in 1988, he has been working at the Institute of Applied Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (from 1991, Russian Academy of Sciences), where he is engaged in the development of high-power gyrotrons for nuclear fusion. He received the Ph.D. degree and Dr. Sci. in physics from IAP RAS in 1999 and 2009, respectively. His dissertations was focused on studies of gyrotrons, development of gyrotron based systems for technological applications and more specifically on methods for increasing the gyrotron efficiency and mastering of THz band. From 1999 up to now, at intervals, he was a Visiting Professor at the FIR FU Center, Fukui, Japan. Currently Dr. Glyavin is a Deputy Director in Science and a Head of the Laboratory of microwave treatment of materials IAP RAS. His research interests are in the field of the theoretical and experimental investigations of various gyrodevices, including gyrotrons and their application to materials processing and diagnostic of various media. He is a co-author about of 200 journal papers. In 2018 he was a chairman of the 3rd International Conference Terahertz and Microwave Radiation: Generation, Detection and Applications (TERA-2018).

Si Woo Yoon received his Ph.D. in Physics from Technische Universitaet Munchen, Garching, Germany in 2003. In 2006, he joined the KSART program in Korea and he is currently a director of KSTAR Research Center. He was a division head of High Performance Physics Division of KSTAR from 2012 to 2017. His main research area includes H-mode pedestal, plasma control, and edge impurity transport.
